The labor market won't save you
Admin staff are scarce, especially part-time and especially outside the big cities. Waiting for the perfect candidate means, in practice: plowing on yourself, another year. The question isn't who will do the work, but whether the work needs to exist.
Shrink the work instead of dividing it
Look at what an admin employee would do at your place: process email, work out quotes, book invoices. That's largely moving predictable information — work AI now does reliably, without onboarding and without sick days.
Human and machine, in that order
Automate the predictable part first. Often the vacancy turns out to be unnecessary afterward — or it changes from 'someone for the pile' into 'someone for the customers.' That's a nicer job too, and easier to fill.
